Hebrew College's
EARLY CHILDHOOD INSTITUTE (
ECI) integrates the study of Judaism with early childhood education, presenting developmentally appropriate methods for teaching young children about Jewish values, traditions and culture. Headed by founding Director Ina Regosin, Dean of Students,
ECI provides support and guidance for teachers, furthering their Jewish knowledge and understanding of this foundational stage of Jewish education.

The
EARLY CHILDHOOD INSTITUTE offers a 6-course, 18-credit program, leading to a
CERTIFICATE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD JEWISH EDUCATION. In addition to courses offered onsite at Hebrew College, a variety of distance learning opportunities are available. Master's students in the Shoolman Graduate School of Jewish Education may specialize in early childhood education by enrolling in
ECI and selecting teaching internships in Jewish early childhood settings. As in all education programs, students are assisted in arranging these internships.
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
Students take six 3-credit courses or a combination of courses and 1-credit modules, for a total of 18 credits. Courses may be taken for either graduate or undergraduate credit.

The
EARLY CHILDHOOD DIRECTORS INSTITUTE provides an opportunity for experienced administrators to participate in intensive study of Jewish sources and Jewish literature. Through this communal study, students reflect on the connections between Jewish tradition and their role as Jewish educators and as leaders in early childhood Jewish education. Students in this program may earn a
CERTIFICATE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD JEWISH EDUCATION LEADERSHIP.
